Davisons Law announce latest charity donation

After raising over £50,000 for local charities last year, Davisons are pleased to announce that Bliss was chosen to receive a generous donation accumulated by the law firm. The No1 property lawyers in Birmingham and Warwickshire have donated £6,347.25 to the charity who help give premature babies the best chance at survival, as well as providing support for their parents.

The donation is the first of the new year for Davisons, who supported several charities last year including The Children’s Trust and the Lily Mae Foundation, with fundraising efforts for charities remaining a priority for the firm.

As well as helping a brilliant cause, Davisons Law also have a personal link to the charity. Employee Daniel McShane’s daughter Ayla was born after 24 weeks; 16 weeks early. Ayla had to battle two serious infections and had to have several blood and plasma transfusions.

Bliss was a great help to Daniel and his partner Catherine through a difficult time. Daniel is now running a host of half-marathons and the London marathon to raise awareness for Bliss. The firm felt it was important to be able to provide support for Dan, and this has been reflected by such a healthy donation to Bliss.

Daniel McShane said on the charity and donation: ‘‘I’m extremely grateful to Davisons for supporting such a worthwhile cause. A donation this size helps Bliss to continue doing their important work for families experiencing a premature birth. They help parents on neonatal wards with information in worrying times and have been a wonderful help to us, even after leaving the hospital.’’

Director Anthony Myles commented on the donation ‘’I am delighted to see the company donating £6300 to Bliss. Seeing the support offered to both Dan and Catherine following Ayla’s premature birth was incredible. A time of unimaginable stress, worry and uncertainty for Dan and Catherine was eased by the information and help provided. The work Bliss do is very important and being able to help in some way to support such a worthy cause is a privilege and something we at Davisons Law are extremely proud of.’’

Bliss was founded in 1979 by a group of concerned parents who discovered that no hospital had all the equipment nor the trained staff it needed to safely care for premature and sick babies. Determined to do something, these volunteers formed a charity to give vulnerable babies the care they deserve. 40 years later Bliss has grown into the leading UK charity for the 90,000 babies born needing neonatal care every year.

Charlotte Witteridge, a trustee of Bliss, said on the donation: “We were delighted to receive this generous donation from Davisons Law in support of Dan’s fundraising. Every year 90,000 babies are born needing neonatal care, and Bliss exists to give every baby born premature or sick in the UK the best chance of survival and quality of life. We are grateful for Dan’s support having had his own neonatal experience with his daughter Ayla. The generosity of our supporters enables us to continue this work.

As Davisons Law continue to expand as a company; they are still small enough to care and will continue prioritising raising money for great causes.
